Open Recreation
We are open to Youth 9-12 years old and are designed as an after school enrichment program. Participants sign in and out of the program as they wish from 1:00pm to 7:00pm Monday thru Friday. There are occasional special activities on Saturdays and some day long field trips in the summer (as announced).

Attendance
When your child is registered for this program, he or she is expected to sign in and out on our log sheet each time they enter or leave the building. This is very important for safety.

Payment Policy
The current fee for the Youth Center Open Recreation Program is $180.00 per year. There are only two cases in which a parent will be allowed to pay one quarter of the year prorated at $45.00 for three months. The payment for a quarter year as an option, it can only be exercised one time and is in place to support parents who have children that will be here for a short period of time such as in the summer months or for a family that will PCS in under 6 months. No other Open Rec fee adjustments will be made.

EVENTS AND PROGRAMS:

Daily
We offer a safe and fun environment where participants can take part in games, physical activities, computer use for home work or fun and arts & crafts projects. We use the first hour of each day as a home work hour and provide help or tutoring. We offer open Gym time after 4:30 each day. Other special physical activities include: archery, first tee golf, volley ball and softball.

Annually
We offer social events which include our End of School dance, Back to School dance and Valentine Day dance. We also host an annual pre-teen lock-in open to all ages 9-12 on base,  an annual Fishing Derby and a community wide Easter Egg Hunt.

Torch Club
Our goal is to foster character and leadership. This Club gives individuals a chance to experience community service and develop organizational skills. Torch club is run by youth with the support of an adult advisor. Meetings are scheduled on Thursdays of each week and youth have a chance to plan events, fundraisers, review club funds, decided on expenditures and give input to the Open Recreation program for the benefit of all youth participants. Torch club operates its’ own healthy heart snack bar which also provides income to the club.

Youth of the Month
Each month a new “Youth Of The Month” is selected by OR staff based on participation, leadership, academics, and special acts. The selected Youth of the month has their picture displayed along with Staff and Base principles at the front entrance of the Youth Center and receives a certificate of accomplishment. Involvement in this club is a great start to developing skills for future clubs in high school and beyond.
